Clinical Operations Manager · assessed 29 Jul 2026, 14:05 AEST · reviewed by Neil Morley, Morley Talent Partners
Credible operational leadership at single-site scale. Budget accountability was not established after probing and should be validated at the next stage.
Asked verbatim, in your words, during the interview.
What is the largest financial delegation you have personally held, and who approved spend above it?
InsufficientAs I mentioned, it varied. I'd have to check what the formal limit on my position description was…
We are moving to a single rostering platform across all four sites next year. Have you led a system migration of that kind, and what went wrong?
PartialI was part of the working group when Fitzroy moved to electronic rostering. The vendor ran the migration and we tested it…
Each was asked, then asked once more. They are unresolved questions for your next stage, not findings against the candidate.
Asked twice. Both responses described a shared approval process and avoided a specific delegation figure, including when asked directly. The claim is neither confirmed nor disproved — what the interview shows is that personal financial authority could not be established in the candidate's own words.
The client's must-ask question was put verbatim and answered with a deferral to a position description. No follow-up was permitted because the same subject had already reached its two-attempt cap.
Tell the agency what you decided and why. It takes about twenty seconds, it stops the same mismatch recurring on the next shortlist, and it is what lets anyone check whether these assessments are actually predicting well.
Multi-site operational leadership Single site, 40 FTE. | Partially demonstrated Confidence Medium |
Accreditation and compliance ownership Led evidence register across two cycles. | Demonstrated Confidence High |
Budget accountability Two attempts (Q3, Q4) and the client's question (Q6) did not establish a delegation. | Not demonstrated Confidence Medium |
Workforce planning and rostering Ran roster consultation and change. | Demonstrated Confidence Medium |
Change management Brief description only. | Partially demonstrated Confidence Low |
Clinical governance reporting Not reached. | Not tested Confidence Low |
“Strong operational fit for the four-site scope. I would progress to a panel interview and use the suggested questions to test the change program depth.”
